| Personal History | Growing up on Alpha III, Christopher also known to family as CJ grew up hearing about his great grandfather, grandmother and various cousins who served or currently serving in Starfleet. His mother LeAnn Jones grew up with her own mother in Starfleet and felt that it ruined the relationship between them due to her always being off to some assignment across Federation space. LeAnn had married Christopher Jennings and settled on Alpha III a few years before CJ was born. While his mother worked as an engineer, his father worked as a shuttle pilot back and forth across the planet. This is where Christopher first developed his love of piloting a craft. After graduating highschool, against his mother's wishes CJ applied and was accepted into Starfleet Academy where he excelled in the helm/navigation field. Four years at the Academy was tough, but he managed to make it through, and his first assignment was on Starbase 24 as a Shuttle Pilot. It wasn't really a glamourous posting, but it gave him the chance to make contact close contact with a number of Captain, Commodore's and Admirals who he enjoyed shuttling and taking advice from. Two later, Jennings accepted a promotion to Ltjg and becoming the Assistant Chief Helm Officer on the USS Jefferson. The next three years, he served on the Jefferson an Oberth class which was assigned to near Kzinti territory. Outside of a few run ins, the mission was primarily peaceful with a lot of exploration and scientific research. In 2264, when the Chief Helm Officer was killed during a shuttle accident, CJ was promoted to Lieutenant and moved up to Chief Helm Officer. For the next two years, Lieutenant Jennings carried on with his task, but wanted more a bit more diversity on his record. When a position on the USS Henderson came open seeking a Chief Navigator along . This posting would place him along the Klingon border. In 2266, Lieutenant Jennings arrived and found himself patrolling the Klingon border. The Ulyesses class ship was where he gained combat experience over the next two years. His Captain was one who never backed down from a fight and in many ways welcomed the chance to beat the Klingons. But it was in 2268, where the Henderson faced off against the two Klingon D7's. The ship was lost, and all hands had to abandon ship. As a result of the loss of the Henderson, the crew was reassigned and CJ found himself relocated to the USS Midway which was in need of a Chief Navigator. Due to his experiences aboard the Henderson and Midway which gradually changed the direction of CJ's career. The Lieutenant became more interested in what took place before ships inevitably exchanged fire. His interest moved towards, intercepted transmissions, intelligence reports, codes signals and even communication among diplomats. He began to cross train in communication while continuing to serve as a navigator. In 2271, Jennings had transferred to the Communications Department officially. His experiencing navigating through hostile proved to be very valuable in his new position. in 2273, Christopher accepted at Starfleet Academy as an instructor. Teaching cadets navigation, communication procedures and bridge ioerations. All experiences that he learned throughout his own career along the Klingon frontlines. Being at the Academy also exposed him to the changes in communicatioins and cryptic systems which brought him into contact with officers from Starfleet Intelligence. It was dueing this time, Christopher met and married his wife Laura Hall. Eventually, he returned back to active duty on the USS Holmes as the Chief Communications Officer in 2276. It wasn't too long after accepting the assignment that he discovered that he would be a father. In 2277, their daughter Diana Jennings was born. He received a promotion to Lt. Commander in 2279, and a year later his son Christopher Jennings III was born. Though the USS Holmes wasn't assigned to long range missions it did keep him away from his family on Earth for months at a time. At one point, he didn't see his wife or children in person for a little over a year. The strain it put on his Laura being the only parent for toddlers, encouraged CJ to request a transfer to Starfleet Command as a Communications Analysis Officer. During the next couple of years, Jennings career moved into the Intelligence field. After three years with Starfleet Command, the Lt. Commander was transferred against his will to the USS Ford as the Intelligence Liaison/Communications Officer. The position took him away from his family, which is why he turned it down initially, but overall he enjoyed the experience. Two years later, CJ accepted a position with Starfleet Intelligence as the Chief Intelligence Officer on Alpha III. This position allowed for his wife and children to accompany him to the world where he grew up. During his time in Starfleet, CJ may have returned four times. Building a home on Alpha III is where Laura and he agreed this is where they would officially retire. Before retiring, he informed his family that he wanted one more starship assignment. Especially on one of the new Excelsior class ships. And with things continuing to point to an inevitable full on war with the Klingon Empire. He wanted to choose his next assignment, before getting assigned somewhere he preferred not to be. With the blessing of his family. He put in a request and was accepted to the USS Tigerfish-A as the Chief Communications Officer. |
