Stardate 8985.2 Ship’s Log USS Tigerfish-Alpha. J.T. Carlson, Commanding. We’re enroute back from Sector 262, carrying the fallen and reports from the Ark Royal to Starfleet Headquarters. The Drenkul situation troubles me, the distress call of the Massacre troubles me. While I commend the quick thinking of the Ark Royal’s crew, specifically Captain T’kal and Commander McEntyre for preventing Starfleet from being party to it, it troubles me that these desperate times call for allying ourselves with people who would commit such atrocities against their own peoples. Meanwhile, Tigerfish herself continues to perform well beyond expectations for a new Excelsior…

The Ark Royal has left orbit of Kannok. We are rendezvousing with the Tigerfish-A; Admiral Carlson should arrive imminently.
Our eventual destination is Neumenedes III, though I have ordered a lengthy patrol route. Mr. Erickson has suggested a course which loops through Drenkul space and then hugs the Klingon and Pydrian borders, keeping speeds relatively low to maximize sensor resolution. Mr. McCray is confident he can maintain this course and has already brought us to warp five. Ms. Novotná has orders to scan anything even slightly out of the ordinary. Chief Science Officer's Personal Log, Supplemental.
Following the retirement of Captain zh'Rellek, the majority of the Cairo's senior staff have been posted to other assignments. The incoming Captain wishes to start with a fresh slate and have her own personal selections to lead that vessel's departments. Although I have served on the Cairo for five years and my team has made measurable scientific progress, she nonetheless has elected to place a personal friend in the Chief Science Officer position.
